Pain at the Border
Researcher | Interviewer | WriterThis article analyzes how the feminization of textile work perpetuates undignified working conditions. The text collects testimony gathered in 2021 and 2022 by the Comité Fronterizo de Obreras, and an interview by the me in which an independent textile worker talks about her working conditions, and how informality in the industry has affected her personal and professional life.
It was selected by Fashion Studies Journal to appear on their online issue Border Garments. On invitation by Colectivo Malvestidas, a poem stract of the article was presented in the Modus Hosts: Exhibiting Fashion exposition at London College of Fashion.
